Hound Tor, Dartmoor

An image of Hound Tor, which is one of the Ten Tors, on Dartmoor. Near Hound Tor is an old deserted medieval village, which was being excavated at the time this image was taken. The tor is surrounded by flowering yellow and purple plants, which are most likely Gorse and Heather plants. The Tor consists of granite and its name is said to have derived from the tor resembling a number of dogs peering over Dartmoor. Image taken on 21/8/1966.
