Look out for a new edition of our mystery images feature, if you can help us out with any information we would love to hear from you.

Volunteers

Picture1The Dartmoor Archive is always looking for new volunteers. Since the project began at the end of 2003, we have had dozens of volunteers contributing to the digitisation process. Their hardwork and dedication has shaped the Archive in to what it is today. Our volunteers come from all walks of life - from works experience students through to retired members of the Dartmoor community. You don't even have to know how to use a computer! Just a little spare time, knowledge of Dartmoor and an interest in seeing it's visual heritage digitally preserved and made accessible to a wider audience. If you are interested in becoming a Dartmoor Archive volunteer then please get in touch

You can contact us by telephone on (01752) 837265 or you can email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Wild Swimming

Recently the Dartmoor Archive supplied the BBC with photographs from our collection for their programme "Wild Swimming with Alice Roberts".  This wonderful programme explores the history of people taking to nature for a quick dip.  To view the part of the programme that features Dartmoor then click here to be taken to the BBC iPlayer.  Otherwise click here to enjoy the whole documentary.

Archive Funding

exmarkThe Dartmoor Archive is facing a funding shortfall. We were established using grant money and generous donations from private individuals, however, this money will not last forever! Sadly, many heritage grants will only fund the creation of new ventures and will not support day to day running costs. For many charitable projects, like the Dartmoor Archive, the everyday bills are the largest part of their outgoings as everything else is provided through volunteers. Despite our efforts we risk not being able to cover the basic costs of running an online archive; power, rent, staff costs and associated internet fees. Bequests and financial donations are desperately needed to ensure that this project continues and remains online. If you feel you could help the Dartmoor Archive then please contact the manager through the contact pages of this site. Thank you.
